Are protein bars healthy ? Is it good or bad to eat multiple protein bars every day ?
Eating protein bars can be a way how to quickly get proteins, carbs, vitamins and minerals. Protein bars can be used as a food supplement, so they should not be your main protein source.
Please note there are many types of protein bars available. You should check their nutrition facts.
Some protein bars (often the cheaper ones) have around 25% of protein and 20% of sugar. While 25% of protein is not a lot, the percentage of sugar almost reaches the maximum recommended daily limit for an adult. So if you eat 3 protein bars per day, your intake of sugar is much higher than is recommended.
Protein bars with higher amount of protein are often more expensive. These protein bars have around 40% - 60% of protein.
If you consider to eat protein bars, buy the ones that do not contain too much sugar.
Don't eat protein bars as a meal replacement.
You should get proteins mainly from quality food like meat, eggs, diary products and legumes. Not from protein bars.
Whether is eating of protein bars good or bad, depends on what protein bars do you eat and how often do you eat them.
Protein bars can give you a boost in situations when you don't have an option to eat a proper meal. But I don't recommend to eat more protein bars on a daily basis.
What you should do is check the nutrition facts of protein bars you buy. Some protein bars may contain high amount of sugar and not so high amount of protein.
According to the nutrition facts, some protein bars are more snacks than food supplements. They contain relatively low amount of protein and a lot of sugar. You should not eat this type of protein bars daily.
Protein bars are good as a concentraced source of protein. You should buy only the better ones that contain around 50% - 60% of protein.
By eating two 45 grams protein bars, you can get 50 grams of protein, without eating large amount of food. But you should not eat protein bars on daily basis or eat too many protein bars per day. You should also not eat protein bars as a meal replacement.
Protein bars contain more or less artifical ingredients. I don't recommend to eat them daily. Eat proper food instead.
But if you decide to eat a protein bar, check what it is made of, so you know what you are eating.
