Only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have 48 MP main camera. These cameras have a 48 megapixel sensor, but when using a "quad pixel" technology, then taken photos have 12 megapixels.

Quad pixel technology combines 4 pixels into 1 pixel, what is known as the "pixel binning method". Because of that, taken photos have 1/4 of the nominal resolution.

The usage of quad pixel technology allows to take higher quality photos in some cases.
Both iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are capable to take 12 MP and 48 MP photos. By default, they take photos in 12 megapixel resolution, using a quad pixel sensor and pixel binning technology. These photos should be sharper and brighter.

But when you enable the ProRAW format, you can take photos in 48 megapixel resolution. You should expect that 48 MP photos will have quite a big file size. It can be around 75 MB.
