First you have to check, if your laptop supports more RAM than you have, because depending on PC model, there are different limits for RAM.
Then you have to check, if there are some empty slots for additional RAM. If there are no empty slots, but the current RAM is in slot (is removable), you can replace it with one having higher capacity. Some laptops don't allow to add or replace RAM, because they have non-removable RAM, that is soldered on motherboard.
